How we handle reader enquiries and personal data.

Who is responsible

FAERIC IT, SAS (French simplified joint-stock company), is the publisher and data controller for its handling of reader contact messages. Its registered office is 10 RUE DE PENTHIEVRE, 75008 PARIS, France. Privacy requests can be sent to eric [at] shiftainews [dot] com.

Contact by email

If you email us, your email address, message, attachments and other information you provide are used to respond to your enquiry or handle a correction, privacy or rights-related request. Please provide only the information needed. Without sufficient contact details or information, we may be unable to respond or resolve your request.

Within FAERIC IT, only the publication director handles this mailbox. Infomaniak provides the email service and processes messages to deliver and store them. Infomaniak states that its Mail Service is hosted and operated in Switzerland.

Purposes and legal bases

The basis for handling ordinary editorial enquiries and corrections is our legitimate interest in responding to readers and maintaining the accuracy of our publication. Handling data-protection requests relies on compliance with applicable legal obligations. Where applicable, retaining records for legal claims relies on our legitimate interest in establishing, exercising or defending those claims.

Correspondence retention

Our retention policy provides for deletion of ordinary correspondence no later than 12 months after the last exchange. Records needed to meet a legal obligation or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims are retained separately for the period justified by that purpose.

Reading the site

The site is made of static pages. It has no account, payment, comment or newsletter signup form, and no application analytics or advertising scripts. Fonts are served with the site rather than requested from a third-party font service.

Cloudflare Pages provides website hosting and delivery. Cloudflare may process technical connection data, including IP addresses and traffic information, to provide its services and protect its network. Its privacy policy distinguishes processing on customers' behalf from processing for which Cloudflare acts as a controller.

Providers and international processing

Cloudflare uses an international network; this notice does not promise that all visitor data remains within the European Union. Its Data Processing Addendum describes safeguards for relevant international transfers, including standard contractual clauses where applicable.

Infomaniak's privacy information provides further provider context; its customer account retention periods are not our reader-correspondence retention rule.

Cookies and browser storage

The site code does not set cookies or use browser storage for tracking. Cloudflare security and access services can use cookies depending on configuration.

We will update this notice if we add services that change how personal data is processed.

Services not yet active

Newsletter subscriptions are not open. Advertising, affiliate and sponsorship arrangements have not been activated on this site. No statistics provider has been selected. Infomaniak is the email provider, not a confirmed newsletter provider.

External links and RSS

X links take you to an external service; an X feed is not embedded in this site. That service applies its own privacy practices when you visit it. Your RSS reader may also process information under its own terms. The site's RSS endpoint is served from the same domain as its pages.

Your requests and rights

You can contact eric [at] shiftainews [dot] com to request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data. Depending on the processing and applicable conditions, you may also have rights to restriction, objection and portability. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it.

You may lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL.

See the legal notice for company information. Please do not send personal or sensitive information through public social posts.
